2023-03-01

Who are you and what is your role in Klüber Lubrication?
My name is Björn Johansson, and I work as a Sales Engineer at Klüber Lubrication, responsible for the railway industry in the Nordic region, where we focus on lubrication for wagons, locomotives, and infrastructure.

What kind of company is Klüber Lubrication, and what do you do?
Klüber Lubrication is a specialty lubricant company offering tribological solutions for all industries and applications. Lubrication plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable operation of vehicles and infrastructure in the railway industry. Our high-quality, long-lasting products are well-suited for railway maintenance.

Why did Klüber Lubrication decide to participate in Train & Rail?

We find it exciting to participate in a new trade show focused on the railway industry in Stockholm, which is easy to get to and strategically located in the heart of the Nordic region. I believe this is the future of railway trade shows, and I look forward to inspiring days with many valuable discussions with both existing and new customers.

What is Klüber Lubrication's goal for Train & Rail?
Our goal for Train & Rail is to meet new potential customers, preferably from across the Nordic region. I believe in this trade show, and Train & Rail has the right and relevant exhibitors for the railway industry. I have high hopes that it will be fruitful days! I am also looking forward to meeting people from the industry, both new and old customers, and discussing future solutions.

What is the most important question from your perspective for the future of the railway industry? How do you address this question today?
Our most important question concerns sustainability. When it comes to lubricants, the calculation is simple: the longer the lubrication and oil change intervals, the less lubricant is needed. Our high-performance gearbox oils can often double oil change intervals. A longer oil change interval not only means lower costs per kilometer but also less lubricant consumption, resulting in lower carbon dioxide emissions and lower destruction costs, among other things. Additionally, many of our specialty lubricants are biodegradable, making them particularly environmentally friendly.

What do you wish for from industry colleagues/decision-makers to enable you to work even better in meeting these challenges?
When it comes to public procurement of lubricants, we wish there was a greater focus on sustainability issues. Our products have a long lifespan and are sustainable. This costs initially but pays off in the long run. Lubricants are only a small part but have a significant impact on costs. We can demonstrate that our lubricants last longer, and we wish the focus would shift to choosing the most sustainable option instead of the cheapest. It will be most beneficial in the long run.
